Learning to Pray Specifically, Anonymous

I first received the Lord Jesus at the age of eight, even though I did not grow up in a Christian home. It was not until I was thirteen years old that I touched the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee. When I was growing up as a teenager in Calgary, the brothers and sisters in the local church really cared for me. There were two sisters in particular to whom I was very close and who both went to the Full-Time Training in Anaheim. From their positive experiences and through others' testimonies, I also aspired one day to go to the Full-Time Training.

After six years of studying and working one and a half years, I am finally here in the Full-Time Training. The environment here is unlike any other, where there are approximately 250 young people who are pursuing the Lord together in a genuine way.

The Lord has been speaking to me on many matters in the training. One matter is concerning prayer. Before I came to the training, I did not have a lot of feeling to pray for my family (my brother and father are not saved, and my mother is not really seeking the Lord). However, through some of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee's writings, which we were assigned to read for a particular class, I began to develop a stronger burden to pray for my family. The whole matter of prayer really touched me and began to develop, not only for my family, but even for my friends, acquaintances, and new believers. I had to repent for my shortage in the matter of prayer.

I specifically received a lot of help from Messages For Building Up New Believers by Watchman Nee and Life Lessons by Witness Lee. From these readings, I was impressed with the matter of being specific in my prayer. I read that when praying, it is good to pray in a specific way in order to see how the prayer is answered. With this view, I began to pray specifically for certain ones both by myself and with others, such as my roommates and team mates. Little by little, I began to see my prayers being answered! It is quite exciting to see the Lord move through my prayers. Although God is able to do anything, He limits Himself to our cooperation with Him (Heb. 7:25).

I have only been in the Training for two and a half months, yet the amount of light and speaking, mainly from the ministry of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee, has been incredible. I am so thankful for these brothers who poured out so much for the Lord's interest and so grateful that I can be in the Full-Time Training, absorbing all the unsearchable riches of Christ (Eph. 3:8).
